*Feet of fence to enclose an area with a single wire.
Multiply this figure for each wire added to the fence. Example:
For a 3 wire fence around a 40 acre pasture requires 15,840' (3 miles)
of fence. (5,280' x 3 wires) 1 acre = 208.7' per side
Acre
(acre) |
The area of a square measuring 208.7' on a side. 1 acre = 43,560
square feet = 4,047 sq meters = 0.4047 hectares. |
To figure fence length do the following:
- Find total acreage to be fenced.
- Find the square root of the acreage to be fenced.
- Multiple the acreage square root (from step 2) by 208.7 to find fence length per
side of fence.
- Multiply your length per side by 4 to get total fence length.
